Personalised Eid, Aqiqah & Muslim Family Gifts: A UK Guide

by GiftsVolt Workshop 20 Jul 2026

A UK guide to personalised Eid, Aqiqah, and Muslim family gifts — what to give, how to personalise it respectfully, and how to order in time. Written for both Muslim families shopping for their own community and non-Muslim buyers looking for the right gift for a Muslim friend, colleague, or in-law family.

Why Personalised Gifts Matter to Muslim Families

Gift-giving is deeply woven into Muslim family life. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is reported to have said: “Give gifts to one another, for gifts increase love” (al-Adab al-Mufrad). That principle shows up in daily life — from Eid, to weddings, to the small warm gift someone brings when visiting a new baby.

Personalised gifts sit particularly well in this tradition because they honour the person and the family specifically, and because meaning matters as much as the object itself.

The Main Muslim Gift-Giving Occasions in the UK

Eid al-Fitr

The three-day celebration marking the end of Ramadan. Families dress up, visit each other, share meals, and give gifts — particularly to children. In the UK, personalised Eid gifts have become a growing tradition, especially among second- and third-generation families who want to build lasting keepsakes around the day.

Timing: shifts approximately 11 days earlier each year on the Gregorian calendar. Eid al-Fitr 2027 falls around 9 March 2027. Order at least 1–2 weeks in advance.

Eid al-Adha

The “Festival of Sacrifice,” falling approximately two months after Eid al-Fitr, marking the completion of Hajj. Also a major family and gift-giving occasion.

Timing: Eid al-Adha 2027 falls around 17 May 2027.

Aqiqah — the Naming & Welcome Ceremony

Held on the 7th, 14th, or 21st day after a baby's birth. The family formally announces the baby's name to their community, and gifts flow between family and friends to welcome the new arrival. This is one of the most gift-heavy moments in Muslim family life, but historically has been underserved by UK personalised gift shops.

Timing: year-round — every family plans their own Aqiqah.

Weddings (Nikah & Walima)

Muslim weddings typically span multiple events — the religious Nikah ceremony and the Walima reception. Personalised gifts for the couple, their parents, and wedding favours for guests are all common.

Ramadan Family Gifts

A newer tradition growing across UK Muslim families — small daily countdown gifts for children, similar to advent calendars, plus family-focused pieces (Ramadan calendars, Iftar-table keepsakes) to mark the month.

Personalised Eid Gift Ideas

Being honest: our full Eid range is in development. Below are the gift types we're actively building — and if you'd like to pre-order or commission any of these before the range launches, email us at info@giftsvolt.co.uk and we'll make it happen.

1. Eid Mubarak Family Door Sign

Wooden door sign personalised with “Eid Mubarak — [Family Name]”. Goes up for the three days of Eid, comes down and gets stored for next year. Becomes a family tradition.

2. First Eid Baby Mug

The Muslim equivalent of a “First Christmas” keepsake — a personalised mug marking the baby's first Eid with the year and their name. A gift the parents keep for the child to see decades later.

3. Eid Family Photo Block

Crystal photo block with a family Eid photo and “Eid Mubarak [Year]” underneath. Builds a family archive year over year.

4. Bismillah Wooden Wall Sign

Personalised with the family name and Bismillah calligraphy. A quietly beautiful piece for a hallway or living room, appropriate year-round rather than just at Eid.

5. Alhamdulillah Coaster Set

A set of four ceramic coasters with Alhamdulillah and family names — a warm gift for the family that hosts everyone at Iftar.

Personalised Aqiqah Gift Ideas

1. Aqiqah Announcement Slate

A slate keepsake with the baby's name, birth date, Aqiqah date, and a short blessing (e.g. “Welcomed with love and du'a”). A substantial piece the parents keep on a shelf in the child's room.

2. Islamic Nursery Sign

Wooden nursery sign with the baby's name, birth details, and a chosen du'a or verse. Personalised in a soft, family-friendly style suitable for a nursery.

3. Aqiqah Fridge Magnet

Small ceramic heart magnet with the baby's name and Aqiqah date. A lovely small gift for extended family members — grandparents, aunts, uncles — to have on their fridges.

4. Crystal Photo Block with Baby & Aqiqah Date

Premium crystal photo block with the newborn photo and the Aqiqah date engraved beneath. Weighty, elegant, meant for the shelf next to the parents' wedding photo.

Ramadan Family Gift Ideas

1. Ramadan Countdown Magnets

A set of 30 numbered ceramic magnets (“Day 1” through “Day 30”) with a family name on each. For children counting down the fasts on the fridge.

2. Iftar Table Sign

Wooden sign for the Iftar table — “The [Family Name] Iftar Table” — that comes out every night during the month.

How to Personalise Muslim Gifts Respectfully

Some genuine best practices:

  1. Get the spelling in writing. Every family has an exact preferred spelling of their names (Muhammad / Mohammed / Mohammad all valid but the family has chosen one). Ask for it in a text or email, don't guess based on pronunciation.
  2. For Arabic script, use an authentic calligrapher or verified font. AI-generated Arabic script is often subtly wrong in ways Muslim families spot immediately. If we're doing Arabic script on a piece, we commission a Muslim calligrapher.
  3. Avoid Quranic verses on items that will touch the floor, be sat on, or be used in the bathroom. A Quranic verse on a doormat, a floor cushion, a bath towel, or a bath mat is inappropriate. Stick to walls, shelves, mugs, mantlepieces, and door signs.
  4. “Allah” and the names of the Prophets should be treated with respect. Best used on items that stay in dignified household places, not on disposable or bathroom items.
  5. For gifts to a Muslim colleague or friend, family-name focused pieces (door signs, family mugs, photo blocks) are always safe. Religious calligraphy pieces are best chosen by or with the family.
  6. “Eid Mubarak” (may your Eid be blessed) is the standard greeting, appropriate on virtually any Eid gift.
